About us

Here at World Alternative Education we work with young people aged 4 to 18 years that for whatever reason, are no longer accessing main stream education or maybe need to supplement their main stream provision. Our Alternative School is based at Moor House Adventure Centre, which is set in over 19 acres of forest, less than ten minutes from Durham City Centre. All young people come to us with a fresh start, our ethos is to mix fun and challenging outdoor adventurous activities with formal educational studies. Experienced Instructors guide our young people through a wide variety of activities, whilst our qualified teaching staff deliver core subjects including Maths and English, up to GCSE level. Each day starts and ends with a hand-shake, we like all our young people to share our breakfast and lunch routine together and our staff always expect to be spoken to respectfully and they will treat each young person with the same respect.
